Metrics for Smarter Scaling Decisions
Strategic Metrics Development for Pre-Cancer Screening Algorithm
The Challenge
The digital health team requested Stratos' support to determine the metrics that would best measure the success of the limited launch of a pre-cancer screening algorithm. The challenge was to identify meaningful metrics that could guide both initial launch decisions and future scaling strategies.
The Approach
Using multiple co-creation methods and frameworks, Stratos worked with internal stakeholders across the company in various roles and departments to define and refine categories of "metrics that matter" that could be analyzed for learning and understanding.
Strategic Frameworks
- •Framework #1: Stakeholder Groups - Mapping key stakeholder relationships across business, customer, and partner ecosystems
- •Framework #2: Value Created and Delivered - Understanding value in context, value in use, and value in production
- •Framework #3: Decision Journey - Tracking awareness, evaluation & adjustment, and ongoing use & support phases
Our Process
- ✓Introduced the team to a new way of defining metrics starting with the core team's work-to-date
- ✓Brought stakeholders from different groups into a design process to co-create the metrics that matter together
- ✓Conducted two collaboration sessions with eight stakeholder groups across multiple timezones
- ✓Performed eight 1:1 stakeholder interviews to gather detailed perspectives
- ✓Maintained steady communication with the Concept Lead about the process and logic of sensemaking
Impact
The metrics framework provides clear, actionable data to evaluate the algorithm's performance and make informed decisions about scaling. The comprehensive approach ensures all stakeholder perspectives are considered, from patient outcomes to operational efficiency, enabling data-driven decisions that balance business viability with customer value and patient care.
